Personal Injury
Cases We Handle

Accidents happen in many ways, and injuries are not limited to one type of incident. We regularly handle all types of personal injury claims, including:

  • Car wrecks, motorcycle accidents, and 18-wheeler/truck crashes
  • Pedestrian accidents
  • Serious injuries such as fractures, head injuries, spinal damage, or permanent scarring
  • Neck and back strains, soft tissue injuries, lacerations, and abrasions
  • Wrongful death cases for families who’ve lost a loved one
  • Workplace injuries

While no two cases are the same, you may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other losses. You can trust Attorney Chris Sbrusch to tirelessly represent your interests—at the negotiating table and in the courtroom if necessary.

What You Can Expect From Us

Many people don’t contact a lawyer after an injury because they don’t want to sue someone. But you deserve compensation if another person’s negligence or carelessness caused you harm. We will meet you at your home or the hospital, or you can come to our office or meet with us virtually.  Our goal is to make it easy for you while listening to your story, answering your questions, and explaining how a personal injury case works.

If you have a strong claim, we will investigate the accident, gather medical records, and document the extent of your injuries. You can depend on us to handle all communications with the insurance companies and help you obtain the medical and financial resources you need and deserve. As our client, you are our boss—we won’t settle your case without your approval and thorough communication about where your case stands.

On Good Friday 2019, Chris left a prestigious statewide personal injury firm to reopen PINEYWOODS LAW™ in Grapeland, Texas. By returning to the firm he founded in 2012, Chris positioned himself between Palestine and Crockett to provide convenient access for residents in both Houston and Anderson counties.

Common Questions About Personal Injury Claims

How much does a personal injury lawyer cost in East Texas?

Nothing upfront and nothing at all unless we recover for you. PINEYWOODS LAW™ operates on a contingency fee, meaning our fee comes out of the settlement or verdict we obtain. If we don’t recover, you don’t owe us a fee. We also offer free consultations so you can get real answers about your situation before making any decisions. There’s no pressure, no commitment, and no cost just to talk.

What should I do after a car accident?
  • The most important step is to seek medical care right away, even if you feel okay. Injuries like whiplash, concussions, and internal damage don’t always show up immediately, and a gap in treatment can be used against you later, which could devalue your case.
  • It is very important to report the accident to law enforcement and get a copy of the crash report.
  • Take photos of the vehicles, the scene, and any visible injuries if you’re able.
  • Do not give a recorded statement to an insurance adjuster—yours or the other driver’s—before speaking with an attorney. Insurance companies move fast, and what you say early can affect your entire claim.
How long do I have to file a claim in Texas?

In most personal injury cases, Texas law gives you two years from the date of the accident to file a lawsuit. This is called the statute of limitations. If you miss that deadline, you may lose your right to recover compensation entirely, regardless of how strong your case is. Some situations have shorter deadlines, including claims involving government vehicles or entities. The sooner you act, the better. Early investigation preserves evidence, protects witness memories, and gives your attorney time to build the strongest possible case.

What if the insurance company already called me?

That’s actually a flag, not a routine courtesy. Insurance adjusters are trained to gather information that can be used to reduce or deny your claim. You are not required to give a recorded statement, and doing so before you understand your rights can seriously hurt you. If you’ve already spoken with an adjuster, don’t panic. Contact us before you say anything else. We handle all insurance communication on your behalf from the moment you become our client, so you don’t have to worry about saying the wrong thing.

Do I have to sue someone to get compensation?

Not necessarily. Many personal injury cases resolve through a negotiated settlement without ever filing a lawsuit or going to court. That said, we prepare every case as if it will go to trial, because the insurance company takes cases more seriously when they know your attorney is ready to go. Whether your case settles or goes to court, Chris Sbrusch will be with you every step of the way and will make sure you understand your options before any decision is made.
